  7. 1. Jesus before Pilate. v.1-16a (continued from John 18:28-40)

  17.      place where He shall rule and reign.

  23.      Pilate declared there was no fault in Jesus.
  24.      Jesus came forth, mocked by men.  "Behold, the Man!" He is the
  25.      only true Man.  How often He spoke of Himself as "the Son of
  26.      man." He is the Last Adam (there will be none after Him), He
  27.      is the Second Man, the Lord from heaven. (1 Cor. 15:45-47)
  28.      The Jews clamoured for His death and Pilate yielded,
  29.      acknowledging that he was perverting justice.

  32.      Jesus silent.
  33.      Pilate talked of power, but had none.
  34.      Jesus declared that Pilate's power was only by  Divine
  35.      Providence.

  38.      v.12-16. Pilate was afraid of impeachment. v.12-13.
  39.      He brought Jesus forth, announced Jesus as King of the Jews,

  41.      We have no king but Caesar!"  What terror and persecution
  42.      Caesar and his successors (eg. Hitler) have brought upon the
  43.      Jews!

  45. 2.   Jesus Crucified, v. 16b-37.
  46.      At Golgotha, between two thieves, "Jesus in the Midst."
  47.      The title on the Cross, "This is Jesus of Nazareth, the King
  48.      of the Jews." Cf. Matt. 27:37, Mark 15:26, Luke 23:38.  In 
  49.      three languages, Hebrew, Greek,and Latin.
  50.      His clothes divided among four soldiers. v. 23-24.
  51.           Jesus committed Mary into the hands of John. v. 26-27.
  52.           Jesus thirsted.
  53.           Jesus died.  "IT IS FINISHED!"
  54.      Not a bone of Him was broken.  A prophecy fulfilled.  Christ
  55.      the Pascal Lamb.  Ex. 12:46, Num. 9:12, Ps.34:20.
  56.      His Body pierced.  Water and Blood came forth. Cf.  I John
  57.      5:6-8.

  59. 3.   Jesus Buried. v. 38-42.
  60.      Joseph of Arimathaea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus.
  61.      Nicodemus assisted him.

  66.      The body of Jesus wrapped in the linen clothes with the
